Get rid of rumble strips

We are growing very impatient waiting for the state to finish the mitigation of the rumble strips which they started last fall and had promised to finish this spring.

We received confirmation from the Department of Transportation last fall on November 18, 2013, that they would finish the job of removing this horrible noise pollution.

Why come up to Cook County and the North Shore for peace and quiet? We might as well stay in our location in the Metro…it’s much quieter. We can leave our windows open at night and not be awoken to the “buzz saw” of rumble strips.

Certainly you folks on the board, and also the DOT, would agree that it is outrageous to destroy the quiet of thousands of campers and visitors to Judge Magney State Park, as well as historic Naniboujou Lodge which prides itself as being a place for “solitude.”

They don’t have rumble strips through Cascade Park and Cascade Lodge. They don’t have rumble strips through Temperance and the campground.

I guess the east end of the county is just considered a vast wasteland and largely uninhabited.

We want the rumble strips gone all the way up to, through, and beyond Judge Magney. There are many people living all the way through Hovland and to the border. We are tired of being given obscure answers from the DOT about “some” individual pieces of “some” strips they are removing….Just get rid of all of them, please!
