Get emergency information through “Global Connect”

The Sheriff ’s Office in Cook County uses several means to provide information to the community during emergencies such as floods, wildfire, power outages and the like.

In addition to announcements over WTIP radio, from the Cook County News- Herald and Boreal Access online and NOAA radio, Cook County law enforcement dispatch can use its emergency notification system powered by Global Connect. This system, combined with other emergency alert methods, is designed to get emergency messages to the public quickly and effectively.

This does not preclude you from calling 911 if you need emergency information; it simply provides another opportunity for the Sheriff ’s Office to disseminate critical information to you if and when the need arises.

You are encouraged to add your cell or Internet telephone numbers to the Global Connect system. Go to the Cook County website to register: www.co.cook.mn.us/ and click on “Emergency Alert Notification System.”
