Jerry Jacobsen, 91, died Sunday, May 31, 2020, in the VA related facility, Waterview Shores in Two Harbors.
Jerry was born May 29, 1929, and grew up in Hovland, Minnesota. He was the youngest of eight siblings.
Jerry made his home and raised his family in Grand Marais, after serving our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran.
Jerry drove truck up and down the Northshore and Gunflint Trail delivering freight for 20 years and then took an over-the-road route out of Duluth to International Falls for another 20 years. He was a proud teamster and was recognized with a “Million Miles” award and 30 years of safe driving.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Flossie Jacobsen, wife MaryAnn Jacobsen, sisters Olyve Joynes, Dorothy Tenney, Lois McLellan, Shirley Nelson/Haasl, Ruth Pearson/Krause, brother Robert Jacobsen and great-granddaughter Carolyn Jensen.
He is survived by his sister Joyce Hagen, ex-wife Beverley Denyes, sons Keith (Wendy) Jacobsen, Marty Jacobsen, Dean Jacobsen, John Royer (Jan); eight grandchildren: Melissa Jacobsen (Chris Jensen), Adam Jacobsen, Vanessa Jacobsen, Stein Jacobsen, Allie Jacobsen, Audrey Jacobsen, Nikki Jo Lutz and Loren Royer, six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at Waterview Shores.
A remembrance gathering will be held in September in Grand Marais on a date yet to be determined.
