August 3, 1931- December 3, 2019, at Rogue Valley Medical Center in Medford, Ore.
Gene was born August 3, 1931 in St. Louis County, Minn., to John and Clara (Hall) Hill. He attended Cook Minnesota high school and the University of Minnesota Duluth. He served in the Air Force in Germany from 1951 to 1954.
He married Elizabeth (Beth) Ongalo in 1957 in Cook, Minn. They resided in Duluth before moving to Beaverton in 1959. Gene worked for Schmitt Steel in Portland and for Chopper Machines and Engineering. After retiring, Gene and Beth moved to southern Oregon.
Gene was preceded in death by his five siblings and by grandson, Noah Macias. He is survived by wife, Beth; daughters, Betsy (Bruce) Harshman and Barbara Bowman; by Susan Hewitt and Jeffery (Barbara) Callahan; and by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Gene will be interred at Eagle Point National Cemetery. A celebration of his life has not yet been planned.
