Top: The lakeshore on the North House Folk School campus contained several tents and many more tents were put up in the Grand Marais Recreation area, as several hundred people spent the weekend taking part in the Winterer’s Gathering festivities. Many tents contained small wood burning stoves that kept the people in them toasty warm. Left: Tom Dengler was paying meticulous detail to the dragon boat he was carving. Dengler was one of several hundred folks who participated over the weekend. Above: Instructor Fred Livesay (red jacket) gives Dale Koniecki some instructions on the fine art of making snow goggles, while Lisa Mayo (in back) works on her goggles. Koniecki moved from Milwaukee to the Twin Cities three months ago. He said he has been waiting to take this class “for the last three years.” This is not the only class that Koniecki has taken at North House, and he gave the program a big thumbs up.
