After a harsh winter and cool spring, the Grand Marais Garden Club held its annual town planting on Monday, June 1. Members met at the Grand Marais municipal parking lot and planted flowers throughout the town under the guidance of master gardener Nancy Carlson, who coordinated and planned the event. Flowers will be enjoyed all summer and early fall and do much to enhance the beauty of our area.
The Grand Marais Garden Club, the longest serving organization in Cook County, was formed in 1934. This year celebrates its 75th anniversary, which will culminate with the annual flower show on July 17 at the Community Center.
Garden Club member Skip Joynes said, “Thank you ladies for a job well done. We appreciate your knowledge, dedication and service.”
