Garden Club a blooming success

The Grand Marais garden club has been out in force lately filling flower boxes and planting the rose garden next to the Yellow Bird art gallery next to Highway 61. Not only does their work beautify the town, it grows on you throughout the summer.

Last Monday the flowers were placed in planters by a dozen members of the Grand Marais Garden Club who then, per long standing tradition, gathered at The World’s Greatest Donut shop for donuts and coffee. The beautification project is a cooperation with the Park Department, the City of Grand Marais and the Garden Club.

The garden club also works with Grand Marais’s park department in caring for Harbor Park and the “First Street” garden opposite Buck’s.

This year’s topic for the garden club is container gardening. The next meeting is on June 11 at 10 a.m. in the Senior Center meeting room. After our business is conducted, we will have a program “Herb Gardening,” presented by Paula Sundet Wolf. All are welcome to the meetings and encouraged to join.
