The Gala for the Grove was held June 3, giving Cook County residents the opportunity to dress up and enjoy a semi-formal evening at Surfside on Lake Superior in Tofte. The event also gave the 85 attendees the opportunity to contribute to the financial future of Birch Grove Community School.

Community members enjoyed an evening of fun, food and dancing, with time to peruse a plethora of pleasing raffle items.

Dinner guests had their pick of salad, warm bread, fillet mignon and herb roasted potatoes, roasted chicken breast and wild rice pilaf, or a grilled portabella mushroom with artichoke stuffing and wild rice pilaf.

Topping the list of sponsors this year were Pete and Lisa Hemp who gave $1,000; Roger and Jeanne Kegler who donated $500; Nancy Koloski who also gave $500; the North Shore Federal Credit Union which contributed $250; Greg and Cindy Hanson/ Thrivent Financial who donated $250; the Grand Marais State Bank who pledged $250; and Spencer and Judy Motschenbacher who also contributed $250 and have given much more throughout the years..
