G.M. Library announces $10,000 art project call for submissions

The Grand Marais Public Library has announced a Request for Qualifications to create one or more public artwork(s) for the Grand Marais Public Library.

The artwork will celebrate one or more community specific, artistic, cultural or historical attribute(s) and will be placed in a high-profile location for all to enjoy.

The intention of this public artwork is to create art that honors the community and reinforces the perception of the library as a place to experience arts, culture and history through a variety of formats.

The competition is open to artists, working in any media, 18 years of age or older who currently live in one of the seven counties located within the Arrowhead Regional Library System.

Artists interested in the project may pick up a brochure outlining submission requirements at Sivertson Art Gallery, The Grand Marais Art Colony, Grand Marais City Hall, or the Grand Marais Public Library; or contact library director Steve Harsin at (218) 387-1140 for more information.

The desk deadline for submitting materials to the Grand Marais Public Library is Friday, Aug. 22 by 4:30 p.m.

The project is funded through the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund and is supported through the Arrowhead Regional Library System on behalf of the Grand Marais Public Library.
