Funding Our Future committee formed

I am passionate about public education. I am proud that America believes that an educated population is the bulwark of our democracy and I believe the system contributed greatly to the person I am today.

This week the ISD 166 Operating Levy Committee, a voluntary team, is kicking off our 2016 Referendum initiative called Funding Our Future. Our goal is to bring the facts about what this referendum will mean to our students and community to you, our friends and neighbors. Facts are our friends and our committee stands ready to insure all questions are answered!

Stop and see us in our booth during Fisherman’s Picnic, talk to us as we walk in the parade.

We have a Facebook Page: www.facebook.com/ groups/isd166fishpicparade/

We have a website: www.fundingourfuture.org

We will be visiting each community and hosting a community roundtable.

You will hear us on WTIP and read about us in the Cook County News-Herald and on Boreal.

We will be presenting the facts to a variety of public and private entities, and urge you to contact us if you would like us to talk with you, either one-on-one or in a group meeting format.

On November 3 we will be asking you, the voters of Cook County, to approve the 2016 levy. This referendum replaces the one voters approved in 2010 and will run for five years.

This referendum is critically important to both our students and the economic vitality of Cook County. We want you to know why.

“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” Nelson Mandela.
