Funding for the B2B touring route coming from tax on off-highway vehicles

In his letter on the Border-to- Border Touring Route, Ron Wizykoski acknowledges people who oppose the B2B have not been truthful, and questions how many tax dollars are being thrown toward the B2B. It’s good that he’s worried about the opponents not being truthful, but he need not worry about his tax dollars – because none are going into this project.

Funding for the B2B comes from an account that draws revenues from the portion of the gas tax that goes to off-highway vehicles. OHVs include farm vehicles, aircraft, ATVs and Off- Road Vehicles – things that don’t drive on roads. Off-Roaders pay a road and bridge tax on the gas they use off-road. B2B is funded from ORV sticker sales and unrefunded ORV gas tax revenues.
