Full speed ahead with 2011 Cook County Fair planning

Cook County Fair planners have been having a great time putting together acts and family events for the 2011 county fair. If you would like to be a part of this year’s fair which will be held Aug. 19 and 20, there are a number of ways to take part!

You can be a fair vendor. Reach out to the community with your own space at the fair. Promote your organization, group, or business. The cost for a vendor spots is only $20 and nonprofits can be part of the fair for free. The deadline to save your space is August 10, so make your reservation today by contacting the Cook County Community Center at (218)387-3015 or Amanda Plummer at (218)370-1095 or ccfair@boreal.org. Entry applications can be downloaded from the fair’s website (see below).

Fair Board President Amanda Plummer said the fair is still looking for musicians or family friendly acts to entertain on the Saturday of the fair. Musical groups and entertainers are encouraged to come share their talents with fair-goers.

And of course you can take part in the fair by entering something—an impressive vegetable from the garden; a lovely plant or flower arrangement; paintings—oil, acrylic, or watercolor; pottery or ceramics; knitting or crochet; beautiful breads or scrumptious cookies; woodcrafts; collections and so much more. Kids’ exhibits are especially encouraged. Take those fabulous drawings and paintings off the fridge and enter them in the fair! Kids will be delighted to see their artwork on display and there are small cash prizes awarded.

“See you at the fair,” said Fair President Plummer.
