Fueling Minnesota’s resiliency during Give to the Max Day 2021

Give to the Max Day on Nov. 18 provides Minnesotans an easy way to put their values into action and donate to thousands of important causes

The 13th annual Give to the Max Day will take place Thursday, Nov. 18. This year, organizers at GiveMN are encouraging people from around the world to put their values into action by contributing to Minnesota nonprofits and schools important to them and supporting those that are providing long-term solutions to systemic challenges impacting communities throughout the state.

Although the big day is Nov. 18, the Give to the Max campaign informally kicked off with a period of “Early Giving” on Nov. 1, when drawings begin for more than $100,000 in prize grants for Minnesota organizations. Give to the Max raises millions every year as a statewide fundraising campaign for nearly 6,000 causes across the state.

Give to the Max empowers donors to put their values into action by donating to causes important to them. To give, donors can visit GiveMN.org and leverage the easy-to-use search tool to find nonprofits and schools that align with personal values, including those most impacted by COVID-19, those working to address challenges like hunger and homelessness, those committed to environmental stewardship and those led by or serving Black people, Indigenous people, and people of color (BIPOC).

“The past 18 months have been difficult for so many reasons, yet we’ve seen an incredible response of Minnesotans digging deep and giving to organizations which power work that reflect their values,” said Jake Blumberg, executive director, GiveMN. “Give to the Max 2021 provides a well-timed opportunity to help our state’s vibrant sector of nonprofits and schools remain resilient as they continue to respond to the needs of our communities.”

Now is a critical time for Minnesotans to continue their strong history of giving back to nonprofit organizations and schools in their local communities. In March 2021, 30 percent of nonprofits in Minnesota reported having less than six months before they exhibit financial stress. More than six months later, donors can play a critical role in supporting organizations working to achieve their mission to contribute to stronger communities during the all-important year-end giving season.
