The Cook County Curling Club finished its first half of the season on Tuesday evening December 20, 2011. There were many members who attended the short meeting that was held before the final game.
A lot of old members have renewed their membership with the club having an earlier start. Members said they liked having the option of having first and second season. It works out well for members who will leave for the winter months.
In addition, there are members who will be joining the second half of the season who could not participate starting in October. Overall, members like how the schedule for the curling season has been set-up for 2011-2012.
The Steve Hudler rink and Mike Christenson rink played against each other for the first half of the season title. These team also played each other for the 2010-2011 title in April.
They are evenly matched so everyone was anticipating a good game and it was. The Hudler rink had to measure for count in the seventh end. In, the eighth end the Christenson rink was counting 2 after Mike Ryden (playing 3rd) threw his stone. Marshall Pederson (skip on Hudler rink) had thrown his first stone as a draw to the button, which out counted Christenson’s rock. The Hudler rink held that lead to win the game 6-3. It was a very good game to watch with lots of Skips behind the glass watching.
