The Cook County Curling Club held its third annual Open Halloween Bonspiel this past weekend with eight teams competing in a round robin format. The club is always happy to see its returning guests from the St. Paul Curling Club and welcomed some new guests from the Duluth and Iron Range curling clubs who joined our local teams to play. Everyone enjoyed the camaraderie and social interaction, plus some good curling, too.

The Senior Gervais rink won the “A” event and Bob Spry’s rink were the runners-up. The winners of the “B” event were the Rory Smith rink, with the Bob Hedstrom rink as the runners up.

The Cook County Curling Club will start this Friday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. offering open curling through the curling season. Open curling will operate somewhat like Cook County Community Education’s open gym. There is a charge, but it is only $5 for two hours of fun. Please bring clean shoes and wear comfortable, loose, clothing.

Join now and get ready for the February 21 – 23, 2014 Mixed Bonspiel.
