From the Hack

at the Cook County Curling Club

The Cook County Curling Club is now in full swing with its season with the Mixed League coming on board last Wednesday. It is a welcome addition to the club as Mixed League has been off the league schedule for six years. There are several new members on this league who are enjoying curling for the very first time and the club is hoping to have additional teams in January when it starts its second season.

In addition to that, the Wednesday Afternoon League is also doing well with several new members along with the same very dedicated members from the West End. The afternoon Wednesday league is what we call “pick-up curling” as teams are formed on that day with whoever shows up. On average, there have been 12 members there each time. Thank you to those members and a big thank you to Jim King for being in charge of that league.

The Open League has had some really good games played these past weeks. As always, the public is welcome to come and watch during league play.

Here are the results so far:

Team Win Loss
Pete Gresczyk 3 0
Brian Smith 2 1
Bob Spry 2 1
Brian Olsen 2 1
George Maruska 2 1
Mike Christiansen 2 1
Joanne Smith 1 2
Rory Smith 1 2
Bill Bockovich 0 2
Bill Parish 0 2
Andrew Smith 0 3
