Friends of Aviation meeting set for May 19




The Arrowhead Eagles, a local volunteer group of pilots and aviation enthusiasts will host a public gathering and informational meeting at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 19 at the Grand Marais/Cook County airport’s new terminal building. Following will be a social gathering at Skyport Lodge.

A short dinner program is planned to highlight over 70 years of local aviation history and the important role played by Skyport Lodge in Cook County’s story of flight. Anyone interested in aviation is invited to attend and spouses are encouraged to attend as well. Please call 218-370- 0373 to make dinner reservations.

The Arrowhead Eagles mission is to support Cook County’s airport and long aviation tradition through promoting aviation events, airport enhancements, youth-oriented activities and flight training opportunities, and community awareness and participation.

New members are encouraged to join the Eagles. A gift highlighting the beauty of flight will be given to each attendee and a door prize of a 30-minute airplane ride will also be offered to a lucky winner.

Of key interest is planning for future promotion of aviation history and the annual Fly-In/Drive-in pancake breakfast and Open House scheduled for Saturday, September 22.
