If you are getting nervous because the April 15 tax filing deadline is getting closer, there is help available. Local AARP TaxAides are once again helping members of the community with their federal and state income taxes, and property tax refunds–free of charge.
IRS trained volunteers are available to e-file your taxes Tuesdays at the Grand Marais
Community Center; Wednesdays at the Birch Grove Community Center and Fridays at the Grand Portage Community Center. The volunteers are there from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
TaxAide Chuck Flickinger said, “If you are putting off doing your taxes because you owe or think you owe, come on in and get your taxes e-filed before the last minute rush. Just because you file now does not mean you have to pay now. We will set you up with a voucher or payment plan that will not be due until April 17.
“Bring your information and come on in!” said TaxAide Alta McQuatters.
Pam McDougal, another TaxAide added, “We make it as painless as possible!”
