The Grand Marais Lions Club is pleased to announce it has formed a partnership with Arrowhead Transit to provide shuttle bus service on Friday, August 5 and Saturday, August 6 during Fisherman’s Picnic. The service will be free of charge.
The bus will run every 45 minutes and include stops at the corner of Broadway and Wisconsin Street in downtown Grand Marais, Cook County High School, the Cook County Courthouse, Gateway Lodge at the top of the hill west of town, and the Grand Marais Recreation Area.
The first pick-up each day will be at 11:00 a.m. at the school, and the last drop-off will be at 6:25 p.m. downtown Grand Marais.
The area designated for bus loading and unloading on Broadway and Wisconsin Street will also be available for personal vehicles to pick up and drop off handicapped passengers during times when the bus is not scheduled to be there. The bus will be unloading and waiting for passengers in that spot for a period of time during each 45-minute interval.
Extra handicapped parking for personal vehicles will be available at Cook County High School.
The bus will have booster seats available, required for all small children on board.
The bus schedule will be available in the Cook County News-Herald’s Fisherman’s Picnic supplement, coming out with its July 30 regular edition.
Arrowhead Transit’s parent organization, Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency, is providing at no charge the labor, equipment, and gas for this service.
