Grand Marais Public Library is pleased to announce that Arrowhead Transit’s Free Rides for Kids program will be offered in Cook County this year, thanks to a partnership between the organizations. Youths wearing an Arrowhead Transit wristband can Dial-a-Ride and receive free transportation to anywhere within the city limits of Grand Marais from Memorial Day to Labor Day. To get a wristband, parents visit the library in person and complete a short registration form permitting their kids to ride the bus. Dial-A-Ride hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The service is closed on Saturday and open on Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Tony Potter of Arrowhead Transit explained, “The majority of our office staff is located at our headquarters in Gilbert. By partnering with the library, we can provide Cook County kids with more ways to get to their favorite summer fun activities. Providing everyone affordable transportation is our mission.”

Grand Marais Public Library increases knowledge, inspires creativity, removes barriers, and builds community across Cook County. This year’s summer reading program will include a “Fresh Start” component with ways for families to clear their accounts of lost or damaged item fees.
