Are you interested in developing the skills necessary for today’s workforce? Cook County Higher Education in collaboration with Lake Superior College will offer the “Knowledge Worker” course beginning June 6 at the North Shore Campus in Grand Marais. Peter Drucker first coined the term “Knowledge Worker” in 1959 as “one who works primarily with information or one who develops and uses knowledge in the work place.”
In today’s high-tech work environment, the knowledge worker is found in almost every industry and work environment.
The Knowledge Worker course consists of 16 hours of instruction for the adult learner. There are four modules: Introduction to Knowledge Worker; Career Pathways; Innovation in the Workplace; and Technology in the Workplace.
Lake Superior College faculty teaches the course over a fourweek period of time. The first four hours will be instructor-facilitated on Monday, June 6 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the North Shore Campus computer lab. The remaining 12 hours take place online with a combination of online discussions, course research and independent study. This course is free, funded in part through a grant from the Blandin Foundation.
Students should have some basic computer skills.
