Grand Marais Public Library will get kids in the 3-6 years age range reading, singing, playing, and moving this August as they distribute new Take-and- Make kits developed by the FRIENDS of the Minnesota Orchestra. The kits will be available August 1 – 31 and are free to the public. Supplies are limited. Visit the library to collect a kit while supplies last.
The Kinder Konzerts in a Bag Kits contain everything needed for kids and families or caregivers to create a musical storytelling experience at home. The kits’ centerpiece is the book One-Dog Canoe, which was written by award-winning Minnesota author Mary Casanova and illustrated by Ard Hoyt. Online videos produced by the Minnesota Orchestra, musical instruments, and hands-on activities enhance the learning experience.
Said Library Director Amanda St. John, “It’s because we’re a part of the Arrowhead Library System that we’re able to offer these free, imaginative monthly Take-and-Make kits. We’re loving the work they’re doing at the regional level, and we can’t wait to see how Cook County kids respond to the August kits.”
This program, sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System, was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. To learn more about Grand Marais Library’s services and programs, call staff at 218-387- 1140, or visit online at: grandmaraislibrary.org.
