Fred S. Veihman,




Fred S. Veihman, 89, of Beloit died May 17, 2017 in his home.

He was born November 16, 1927 to the late Leroy and Emma (Hudson) Veihman in Mt. Carmel, Ill. Fred graduated from Beloit Memorial High School, class of 1945. He married Carole Hefti on Sept. 13, 1953 in Beloit. She preceded him in death on Aug. 27, 1989. Fred then married Marian (Tillou) Solimon on April 7, 1990 in Beloit.

He worked as a machinist at Woodward Governor Co. for 25 years until his retirement in 1989. Fred was a longtime member of Redeemer Evangelical Covenant Church and a member of Badger Chordhawks for 40 years. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his flower beds. Fred also enjoyed traveling, spending summers at their cabin on Crooked Lake in Minnesota and all outdoor activities. Fred will be remembered for his strong Christian faith, and how he enjoyed church activities up north and in Beloit.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Veihman; his five children,

Julie (Rodney) Solimon, Jan (Laurie) Veihman, Judy Heikkinen, Janet (Bobby) Souders and Rodney (Julie) Solimon. He will be further missed by many loving grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

His parents and his first wife, Carole, preceded him in death.

The family would like to thank Dr. Leo, the staff at Beloit Memorial Hospital, Riverside Terrace, and Beloit Regional Hospice for all their care to Fred.

Fred’s Funeral Service was held Wednesday, May 24 at Redeemer Evangelical Covenant Church, 2500 Prairie Avenue, Beloit with Pastor Chris Carlson officiating. Friends were received Wednesday in the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial followed at Floral Lawns Cemetery.
