Frank Allen Dvorak,





 

 

Frank Allen Dvorak, 73, of Buckeye, Arizona and Tofte, Minnesota died as a result of metastatic colon cancer February 28, 2016, in his home with his family by his side.

Frank was born to the late Viola and Frank Dvorak November 4, 1942, in Austin, Minnesota. He was raised in Austin with his sister Ann Nordlund, of Bemidji, Minnesota. Frank graduated from Austin High School in 1960 and received a B.A., magna cum laude, in economics from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1963.

He married the love of his life Barbara Gale McMahon Dvorak in 1963.

Frank graduated magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1967. He lived and practiced law briefly in southern California. The rest of his life Frank was a true Minnesotan living and working in Plymouth and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Frank practiced law for 45 years as a partner at Foley & Mansfield and Mackall, Crounse & Moore in Minneapolis. He raised a family in Plymouth, Minnesota becoming very involved in the New Hope – Plymouth Athletic Association and co-founding the Breck School Spirit Association. Frank was also deeply involved in the DFL Party helping manage and coordinate local political campaigns. He was a proud Humphrey DFLer.

Frank touched so many lives with his generous spirit. Whether it was the Legal Aid Society of Minnesota, Hamline University, Brunswick United Methodist Church of Crystal, Minnesota or the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota for which he served as legal counsel, Frank always made time and the effort to help in any way he could.

One of his most treasured accomplishments was being inducted into the Hamline University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2006. Frank loved all sports whether it was pitching for his Wooddale Fathers softball team or attending men’s basketball games at the University of Minnesota for over 35 years.

Frank is survived by his wife Barb Dvorak of

Buckeye, Arizona and

Tofte; two of his children, Mike Dvorak of

Plymouth, Minnesota and Heather Dvorak-Lain of Anthem, Arizona; his two grandchildren Trevor Lain and Teagan Dvorak; and his two beloved dogs Scamp and Rocket. Frank is preceded in death by his son, Dean Dvorak.

A memorial service will be held May 14 at 11 a.m. at Hamline University Methodist Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. Instead of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota and Hamline University Athletic Department.
