As I read the June 27 obituary for Bonnie Francis Johnson, I noticed her middle name was misspelled. And others I’ve noticed as well.
Many years ago, in the mid 1960s, we were living at the Sea Gull Guard Station (Russ grew up there) and I met many friends. Among them were Clayton and Frances Oliver on the Gull River.
Frances asked me one day while I was visiting if I knew the difference between Frances and Francis. Here is the lesson I learned and never forgot:
For Frances, think of her.
For Francis, think of his.
Of course, those who have these names know which is the right name and now we know how to spell it.
Respectfully, Nancy Smith,
Maple Hill
