Cook County High School volleyball coach Pam Taylor was happy to announce that four of her players were named to the 2017 Polar League All-Conference team.
Two of the players, senior outside hitters Meredith Sutton and Raina Ryden, were repeat selections.
Two new Vikings also played well enough to garner votes from coaches and earn All-Conference honors: Junior middle-hitters Sophie Eliasen and Alyssa Fenstad-Lashinski.
Through 27 games on offense, Sutton had 463 kills, 253 set assists, and 44 ace serves. On defense, the University of Minnesota (UMD) bound senior recorded 446 digs and 47 blocks. Last season Sutton earned honorable mention All-State honors, and Taylor announced that this season Sutton was named to the 2017 All-State team.
Raina Ryden recorded 347 set assists, 57 ace serves, 368 assists, 14 kills and on defense had 365 digs and 14 blocks.
Sophie Eliasen had 224 set assists, 38 ace serves, 76 kills, 25 assists and on defense had 393 digs and 47 blocks
Alyssa Fenstad-Lashinski recorded 305 set assists, 55 ace serves, 152 kills, 56 digs, and 55 blocks.
The 2017 Polar League champion Vikings finished with a 10-0 record in conference play and were 22-5 on the season when the All-Conference selections were named. The team also recorded its third straight Section 7A crown and advanced to the state tournament where they play at least two games.
