Four treated following Sunday crash at Seagull Guard Station





Four persons were taken to the Cook County North Shore Hospital following a Sunday afternoon accident on the Gunflint Trail.

The Cook County Sheriff ‘s Office was notified of the onevehicle crash at 2:04 p.m. July 18 when a Forest Service employee called 911 and reported the accident at 11456 Gunflint Trail, in front of the Seagull Guard Station. According to the initial reports, four occupants were out of the vehicle; nobody was ejected.

In addition to the Sheriff ‘s Department, the Gunflint Trail Fire Department, First Responders and ambulance and Cook County ambulance were dispatched to the scene. All four occupants of the vehicle were taken to the hospital. None lost consciousness, but were suffering from varying degrees of neck and back pain.

According to the deputy’s report, the vehicle was driven by William R. Berglund, 53, of Xenia, Ohio. The passengers were Robert W. Berglund, 84, and Marie Ann Berglund, 83, both of White Bear Lake, Minn.; and Kristine Ann Berglund, 50, of Lauderdale, Minn.

The vehicle, which was pulling a boat on a trailer, was towed from the scene.
