Gayle and John Lyght of Lutsen are the proud grandparents of Christopher Luchies,
a member of the Brooks Composite High Buffalos football team. The Buffalos, of Brooks, Alberta, captured the Tier 3 Canadian Provincial Football title by completing an undefeated season with a 23-7 win over the Peace River Pioneers in the championship game in November.

Gayle Lyght attended the Nov. 21 Gold Medal Championship Game in Edmonton, Alberta, on the campus of Edmonton University. Gayle said she is very proud of her grandson, who is a junior on the squad. She said it was the first time she traveled to see one of the Buffalos’ games and was delighted for the chance to see the team win its championship.

The win pushed the Buffalos’ record to 12-0. “It is rare that a team goes through a season undefeated; I believe this is the first time the Buffalos have accomplished this feat,” said Head Coach Paul Cashato. “The boys need to be very proud of their season.”
