We have some of the best and the brightest children here. To paraphrase Garrison Keillor, the children of Cook County are goodlooking, strong and above average. But many are also hungry.
Thissummer our local Food Shelf has provided meals for over 100 children in the area. In the summer months there are no hot school lunches to take up some of the slack. Thedays are longer and more energy is expended at play, causing a need for even more calories. It’s no fun to be hungry.
It’s also important for the development of growing minds and bodies to have proper nutrition. Cook County Food Shelf needs our contributions to continue to feed the children.
Thegood news is we can help. Just a small donation each month to Cook County Food Shelf can make a difference. Or when shopping, buy an extra item to contribute—our local stores make it so easy.
TheCook County Food Shelf is open every Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. It is located at the lower level of the First Congregational Church, UCC of Grand Marais. Please help keep our children strong.
