The grand finale of the Sawtooth Mountain Elementary School Talent Show on June 1 was finding out if Cook County Schools/ISD 166 Counselor Kris Hoffman would have his head shaved. Hoffman had issued a challenge to students—collect over 500 items for the Cook County Food Shelf and he would shave his head at the talent competition. The kids did it!
They not only met the goal, they surpassed it, collecting 800 items for the food shelf.
The class that brought in the most food items won the additional honor of deciding if Hoffman should sport a Mohawk, have zebra stripes or be completely bald. The class that collected the most food shelf items was Jana Larson’s fourth-grade which collected the most items based on class size. The class nominated English Teacher Michael McHugh to be “the stylist.”
With accompaniment from “DJ” Miles Elvin, McHugh proceeded to shave Hoffman’s entire head before the raucous elementary school crowd.
As he rubbed his hairless head, Hoffman thanked everyone for taking the challenge and helping the Cook County Food Shelf. “Way to go, Cook County!” he said.
