Cook County Higher Education in collaboration with Vermilion Community College will offer both the ServSafe certification class and the ServSafe renewal course at the North Shore Campus in Grand Marais. This seminar is designed to fulfill the certification requirements for Minnesota state and local health departments.
The seminar trains, tests and certifies participants in the National Restaurant Association’s SERVESAFE program Serving Safe Food.
ServSafe Certification will be held on Tuesday, May 10 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the North Shore Campus. There is a $175 fee, which includes the test and book. ServSafe renewal will be Wednesday, May 11 from 8 a.m. to noon at the North Shore Campus.
To receive your certification, you must attend the ServSafe course and pass the certification exam. The certification exam will be given during the last hour of the class. A ServSafe textbook is available prior to the beginning of class and it is highly recommended that it be studied in preparation for the exam. Textbooks are available to participants as soon as registration fees are paid.
The seminars will be taught by Pam Freeman, a master chef certified by the American Culinary Federation, who has been teaching ServSafe certification and renewal classes for Vermilion Community College for several years.
