Cook County Higher Education will again offer the Serve Safe Food Manager Certification and Renewal continuing education training in Grand Marais on May 11 and12. These seminars are designed to fulfill the requirements for Minnesota state and local health departments. The seminar trains, tests and certifies students in the National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe Serving Safe Food program.
To receive certification, participants must attend the full certification course and pass the certification exam. The certification exam will be given during the last hour of the class. A ServSafe manual is available prior to the beginning of class and it is highly recommended that it be reviewed in preparation for the exam.
The ServSafe full certification course will be held on Tuesday, May 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thecost is $175.
The ServSafe Renewal continuing education course will be held on Wednesday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to noon. Thecost for the renewal course is $65.
Both courses are taught by Pam Freeman, a master chef certified by the American Culinary Federation. Certification credit for the training is provided by Vermilion Community College. The seminars will be held at the Cook County Higher Education North Shore Campus.
