The North Shore Music Association continues its summer of music with a concert by Twin Ports folk singer Sara Thomsen. According to the Duluth Reader Weekly, Thomsen is “one of Northern Minnesota’s best kept secrets…” She will be a secret to the North Shore no more after the concert at the ACA on Saturday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m.

According to the Reader, Thomsen “…picks up the torch carried by the balladeers of decades past: Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Holly Near, Ronnie Gilbert, and Peter, Paul and Mary.”

The Minnesota Women’s Press writes, “Thomsen’s soulful voice, poetic lyrics and unforgettable melodies cut through to the heart and the soul of human experience.”

In addition to her solo work, Thomsen is a weaver of song and community singing contributing to conferences, classrooms, workshops, retreats, jails, places of prayer and lines of protest. She has produced and directed performances over the years combining music, poetry, dance, visual art, storytelling and puppetry. She is the artistic director of the singing trio Three Altos, comprised of a rabbi (Amy Bernstein), a folksinger (Thomsen) and a professor (Thomsen’s partner, Paula Pedersen). She is also the founder and artistic director of the Echoes of Peace Choir, a non-audition community choir in Duluth, Minnesota.

Tickets for the concert are general admission. They can be purchased at the door or on-line at www.tix.com. Tickets are $15. See more about the North Shore Music Association at www.northshoremusicassociation.com.
