Fishing life remembered in Aug. 21 program




Remembering the Fishing Life
will be presented by fisherman Steve Dahl at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 21 at the North Shore Commercial Fishing Museum in Tofte.

Dahl fishes Lake Superior near Knife River and is president of the Minnesota North Shore Commercial Fishermen’s Association.

He has a new book out that is a journal of a year of commercial fishing: Knife
Island: Circling a Year in a Herring Skiff.
He relates day-to-day irritations, fears for his profession and philosophies small and grand. He will read, sign copies, and discuss the state of commercial fishing and its Nordic heritage.

The program is free and also includes a thanks to Grand Marais State Bank for the donation of the newest video display in the museum. The Fishing Museum invites everyone to stop in and see it and join them in giving thanks to such a wonderful community partner.
