Sponsored by the North Shore Ski and Run Club, the annual Fisherman’s Picnic Trail Run held on the rugged trail of Pincushion Mountain is always one of the highlights of the picnic and this year’s series of races were no different.
Dave Duede,43, from Egan, Minnesota, won the men’s five-mile race with a time of 30:03.6. Grand Marais runner Shane Steele, 37, placed second, finishing in 30:47. Other local men finishers were Ryan Olesee, 29, Hovland, placed 11th in 39:46.1; Logan Netland, 33, Grand Marais, finished 13th in 41.26; Adam Oberg, 13, Grand Marais, was 17th in 42:42.6; Chris Hegg, 70, Grand Marais, took 18th in 43:47:4; Jeffrey Shockley, 33, Hovland, finished 23rd in 48:31.7; Andrew Hallberg, 16, Grand Marais, was 24th in 48:37.9 and Anton Moody, 41, Grand Marais, placed 25th 49:42.4.
Women 5 mile
Lizzy Harnell, age 15, a standout track and cross country runner from Proctor, Minnesota, won the women’s five-mile race with a time of 39:04.7. Gretchen Brugman, 48, from Truckee, California, was second, crossing the finish line in 39:57.4. Malin Anderson 19, from Hovland, was the top area finisher. Malin placed third in 39:58.6. Louise Ramberg, 19, Grand Marais, placed fifth with a time of 42:59.9. Brienne Moody, 41, Grand Marais, finished 11th in 46:46.6. Ann Norton, 57, Grand Marais, crossed the finish line 12th in 48:07.4. Libby Larson, 29, Grand Marais, placed 13th in 48:13.7. Brianna Monson, 15, Grand Marais, was 17th in 51:46.6. Jeanne Monson, 45, Grand Marais, finished 18th in 51:51:.4 and Anne Hegg, 71, placed 20th in 1:17:56.4.
5-mile race walk results
Braidy Powers, 67, Grand Marais, placed first in the men’s division with a time of 1 hour. Rolf Mork, 66, Grand Marias, placed second with a time of 1:04:08.9.
Adriane Durey, Smyrna, Georgia, was the lone entrant in the five-mile walk. She recorded a time of 1:19:45.7.
Boys’ one-mile race
Luke Dragseigh, age 7, Grand Marais, placed first in the one-mile run with a fine time of 6:22.1. Chance Jacobsen, 12, Lutsen, placed second with a time of 6:24.7. In third place was Landon Thompson of Grand Marais. Landon ran 6:42.8. Mathiuss Conlan, 9, Grand Marais, placed sixth in 10:43.2. Ari Silbrerglith, 9, Grand Marais, finished eighth in 10:57.9, and in ninth place was Adyssey Conlan, 11, Grand Marais, crossing the line in 10:59.
Girls’ one-mile race
Hannah Duede, 11, Egan, Minnesota, won the girl’s one-mile race with a time of 6:07.1. There were no local girls in the race.
