A fire was reported at 7:56 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, in the large storage building, which is located above the main Isak Hansen’s Home and Hardware store, in Lutsen.
Both Lutsen and Tofte firefighters were called to the scene, and initially, the Grand Marais fire department was called to assist but wasn’t needed and returned home.
Also on the scene was Cook County Law enforcement and the North Shore Health ambulance.
An employee noticed smoke from the top of the building but no flames.
Both fire departments were on the scenes by 8:08 and half an hour later the fire was out, and the Lutsen fire department stayed to conduct mop up while Tofte returned home.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Minnesota Fire Marshall and Cook County.
