Finn Gudmund Jorgensen

Finn Gudmund Jørgensen, 78, made his transition back into Spirit on September 5, 2019 after complications following a stroke. He is survived by his former spouse/best friend, Ramona, their extended family and an international community of friends.

Finn was born and raised in Denmark, and was predeceased by his first wife and parents there. He taught literature and English/Danish languages in Denmark, later moving to the USA for a year of teaching Danish at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

He remarried and lived between Minneapolis and a north shore Lake Superior home near Grand Portage for many years, eventually becoming a naturalized USA citizen too. He co-created a seven-year monthly meditation series, a spiritual gathering place, group discussions and teachings at the north shore home. In recent years Finn lived in Grand Marais, more recently at Edgewood Memory Care in Duluth, and finally the North Shore Care Center in Grand Marais.

He was a scholarly gentleman with gracious European sensibilities, wry and ready smile and penetrating twinkling blue eyes, most especially when telling one of his stories. Finn loved literature, art, history, studying world cultures and religion and most of all his large personal libraries of books and music. In his prime he was an enthusiastic runner, proudly topped by completing a Minneapolis Marathon.

Finn often traveled to sacred sites fueled by his lifelong study of spiritual cosmology and esoteric teachings. Once he excitedly sprinted up 700 steep centuries-old steps to reach the remains of an ancient monastery atop sacred “Skellig Michael,” an island mountain in the sea off Ireland. Finn amassed a spiritual library of 1,000- plus items and loved sharing his spiritual interests and knowledge. Surely heaven is happy to greet and receive back this seasoned Old Soul.
