Filing period opens for county elections





Minnesota’s primary elections will be held the second Tuesday of August (the 10th) to give more time for military and overseas absentee ballots to be returned, Auditor- Treasurer Braidy Powers told the county board on May 11.

Filing dates for local elections were moved up to reflect the earlier primary date. The filing period will be May 18 through June 1. Open county offices(and their incumbents) are as follows:

County commissioner, District 5 Bruce Martinson
County attorney Tim Scannell
Auditor-Treasurer Braidy Powers
Recorder Dusty Nelms
Sheriff Mark Falk
Soil & Water supervisor, District 2 James Hall
Soil & Water supervisor, District 4 David Berglund
Soil & Water supervisor, District 5 Roger Haertel
Hospital board, District 1 Sharon Bloomquist
Hospital board, District 3 Howard Abrahamson
Hospital board, District 5 Tom Spence, Sr.

The City of Grand Marais and School District 166 filings are in August.
