With one supervisor position open and two people beating the deadline to file for office, Schroeder residents will have a choice in who they want to help lead the township over the next three years.
Rick Anderson will challenge incumbent Roger (Bill) McKeever for the open supervisor position. The election will take place on March 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Schroeder Town Hall, 124 Cramer Road. The annual meeting will follow and begin shortly after 8 p.m.
Currently, the Schroeder Township Supervisors are Bill McKeever, Tina McKeever– who is board chair– and Bruce Martinson, who is the vice chair. Gale Ring serves as deputy clerk, Doug Schwecke, clerk, and Phil Bonin serves as fire chief. Ginny Storlie is the Cook County commissioner representing District 5 (Schroeder, Tofte, and Lutsen).
Meanwhile, no one filed for the treasurer position. Long-time Treasurer Alicia Kangas is giving up that role. Schroeder Clerk Doug Schwecke said the job takes 5-10 hours per month, plus the monthly meeting, and can be done from home. The treasurer is compensated at $20 per hour and receives $75 per meeting.
