When some kids were showing up to school sad or glum, feeling underconfident or overwhelmed, several Cook County High School students came up with a way to help those kids start their day on better footing. They did so by creating a “Feel Good Cart.”
What’s in a Feel-Good Cart?
Well, there are items for hair, nails, lotions, deodorant self-care products kids can learn how to use. The items in the cart were purchased by a local couple, Donna and Orvis Lunke, but they say the story is about the kids who volunteer. Those students are Kamryn Johnson, Molly Lavigne, and Amery Oberg.
The Feel-Good Cart is located in Ms. Oberg’s classroom open before school and during advisory times.
Ms. Oberg said after the first day kids left saying they felt “beautiful.”
Molly, Amery, and Kamryn deserve a big thank you for mentoring the younger kids and for helping to create a place where others can walk away feeling their best.
