Thursday, April 15 at 12:00 p.m. will be the second Tax Day Tea Party on the steps of the Cook County courthouse. Our country is in a moral freefall and it will take an informed, motivated electorate to keep us from being a morally and financially bankrupt America; an America you and I would not recognize as the one in which we have been so privileged to grow up. “The Land of the Free, and the Home of the Brave,” words so beautifully sung at the Army’s Ambassador Jazz band performance, which Butch and I were privileged to attend in Bemidji last weekend, brought tears to my eyes as I thought about the America I love, and our blood-bought, Godgiven freedoms. Freedoms that are being eroded in the name of social justice, security, protection, and “rights” that do not appear in our Constitution.
At the concert performed by wonderfully gifted musicians, every branch of the U.S. military was recognized with its anthem, and those who served in any of the branches proudly stood when their stirring anthem was played. Thisis the America that we must not lose! We must do all we can to take back this beloved country where hard work was rewarded and the fruits of one’s labor were not unjustly taxed and redistributed— taking away the incentive to work diligently to provide for your family, your church, your community, to voluntarily help the needy.
America is the most generous country on earth; we do not need the federal government directing our giving, controlling our health care, telling us what to drive: taking over our lives! Bring your concerns, your factual information on local, state and national issues and candidates, and a sign if you wish! See you April 15.
