The residents at the Care Center know how to beat “cabin fever” with an abundance of fun indoor activities planned for February. There is a lot to look forward to all month.

Everyone is encouraged to wear red on Friday, February 1 to support Heart Health Awareness Month.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, there will be a lot of creative Valentine craft activities. The residents plan to make Valentine placemats on Feb. 9. A fun afternoon is planned for February 11, when the first graders from Great Expectations School will be joining us to create some Valentines.

It always brings such joy and laughter to the Care Center when the little ones come to visit!

The festivities will continue on February 12 when Hilja hosts her Happy Hour with Valentine drinks, treats, and a Valentine game.

We don’t have any February birthdays to celebrate at the Care Center, but that won’t keep us from having a party. On Wednesday, Feb. 13th at 3 p.m., we’ll have a Valentine party with cake and ice cream. Doug Sanders will be here to play love songs for all to enjoy. Friends and family are welcome to join us for an afternoon of good music and fun.

The residents were all smiles when they welcomed back “Portage Band” on January 26. Pictured in front of the band (L-R) are Mary Alice Hansen, Mary Meyers, Mary Liebsch, and Rose Hasegawa.

The Middle School Choir will be coming to perform on Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. In the afternoon there will be Valentine Bingo, always a favorite with the residents.

The residents are really enjoying “Trivia Night,” an activity we recently added to our calendar. We will be hosting this group after dinner on Feb. 7 and 21. It provides an opportunity to share stories and laughter, along with the trivia facts.

We’re hoping for nice weather on February 21, when we will once again be going to the Senior Center for a delicious lunch with all of our friends there.

There is nothing like music to help us through these cold months of winter, and we will have plenty of music in February. Myron Bursheim will be here most Sunday afternoons, and Susan Scherer on Wednesday afternoons. Portage Band will bring their country music to the Care Center for a dance on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome at any of our music events!
