To respond to Coach’s Corner
Mitch Dorr’s disappointment with Tiger Woods’ recent failure as a role model, I agree that all famous people are not exemplary, neither athletes nor politicians, prophets nor priests, etc. Each and every person has unique talents and opportunities to do good or even great things, yet at times may make poor decisions, do stupid things, make harmful choices. We each have the capacity to learn and practice clear thinking skills and should make choices responsibly.
“…not gods”? I suggest that Mitch stay true to this line of reasoning. We may admire, respect and learn from others, but no matter how tempting it is and without exception, we should neither demonize nor idolize or worship the person, not Woods or Favre, not even Jesus, Mohammed, or Gandhi, for therein we find just another fallible human being.
