Fall brings changes to West End

The months are slipping in and out as quickly as the big lake brings in her waves and takes them back out to sea. I know I saw sparrows yesterday that seemed to have just gotten here in the spring. I thought to myself, are you really going south so soon? The message is clear, my favorite time of the year, fall is here! I hope it stays with us long enough to enjoy and get the pending outdoor projects and gardens tended to.

The change in seasons also affects our West End snowbirds. A few of them will soon be leaving the sanctuary of our beautiful North Shore. A busy summer has been had by all and now another environment will embrace them and keep them warm and send them back in the spring.

Before the season is over, be sure to stop in for Senior Lunch every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. A wonderful meal is prepared and served by Barb Merritt; she does not miss a detail. The menu is posted on the Boreal Community Calendar on Wednesday morning or call 663-7977 for the daily menu and reservations As I write this, we are having ham, mac & cheese, baked beans, fresh bread, watermelon and birthday cake. Happy September birthdays to Mary Dempsey, Priscilla Revier and Linda Lamb!

W.E. Connect hosted its last regular Pizza Night at Birch Grove Community Center last Tuesday. Participants brought their own toppings and enjoyed the last brick oven pizzas of the season.
