Sarissa Falk has been named captain of the women’s cross country team at Hamline University for the second year in a row.

A 2012 graduate of Cook County High School, Sarissa is the daughter of Mark and Sue Falk of Grand Marais.

While she is not the top runner for the Pipers, Falk, who was an all-conference cross country runner for the Vikings, is a natural leader and a strong team runner. She also participates in track for the Pipers, running the 5K and 10K.

As a senior at CCHS, Sarissa was picked to run and represent Minnesota in the 25th annual Down Under Sports tournament hosted on the Gold Coast of Australia.

Now a senior in college, Sarissa is majoring in sports management and hopes to some day become an athletic director for a high school or college, said her father Mark Falk.
