My father said, “’Never give in to the pain’” He’d say, “’You gotta live as hard as you can to the grave.” Yeah, yeah, yeah. I need some strength for the sorrow; Oh please lend me hand, I need faith in tomorrow; Somebody help me sing.
Lyrics from the song, Faith in Tomorrow.
One of Lutsen’s favorite sons, Cobi, has released another riveting powerhouse single titled “Faith in Tomorrow.”
Now based in Los Angeles, Jacob Michael Schmidt (Cobi) was an original member of the Boston-based band, Gentleman Hall. He left Gentleman Hall in 2014 to pursue a solo career. In 2016 he wrote and recorded “Don’t you Cry For Me,” which he performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon..
Faith in Tomorrow, wrote Cobi, “goes out to anyone who’s suffering in any way. It’s a song about hope and resilience. An anthem to get us through our struggles. I wrote and recorded this song while taking care of my father who was battling cancer. He did everything he could to live out his last days with as much love as he could master. Watching him transform his pain into love changed me forever.”
Cobi’s father, James (Jim) Schmidt passed away from cancer in May 2019.
Jacob Schmidt, Cobi’s brother, is also a musician who lives in the Twin Cities.
Cobi’s music can be heard on YouTube, Spotify, YouTube Music and other music platforms. You can learn more about him on his Facebook page.
