Fair Premium List is now available

Not sure if your hobby or craft is considered eligible for competition at the Cook County Fair? Wondering how many radishes or cucumbers or peas constitute a fair exhibit? Questioning whether your canned cauliflower has a place at the fair? Want to know what the cash prize is for “Best of Fair” for potatoes? The answers to these questions and much more can now be found in the Cook County Fair Premium List 2010.

This little booklet includes a listing of all the fair exhibit categories in 10 divisions such as animals, vegetables, needlework, arts and crafts, and more. There is information on two very special fair contests, a Cookie Contest sponsored by Johnson’s Foods and a Woodworking project/woodcarving contest sponsored by Superior Lumber. The cookie contest is open to all kids up to 17 years old and there are a number of categories—prettiest, tastiest, and ugliest. The winner receives a $25 gift certificate to Johnson’s Foods.

The woodcarving contest has $25 gift certificates to Superior Lumber for winners in an adult woodworking project, kids 16 & under woodworking project, and wood carving categories. The winners will be voted on by the public, so be sure to come to the fair to vote for your favorite woodworking entry.

The Premium List booklet has the clipout tags needed for entries, including those for school entries. Fair organizers encourage kids to enter projects and artwork— there are cash prizes ranging from $1 to $2 for schoolwork ranging from book reports, beadwork, pottery, drawings, paintings, collections and much

more. It’s a fun way for kids to get a little summer spending money.

Stop by and pick up a Premium List today to find out what you can enter in the fair!
