The Silver Bay/Cook County/Two Harbors Bantam hockey team has been on a tear this season, winning nearly all of its games.
Cook County players Thomas Anderson, Ben Kroska, Lars Scannell, Jamie Wick, and Daniel Ahrendt are all contributing members to this fine team. All of them have scored goals, with Lars and Thomas scoring regularly.
On Friday, Jan. 7 the team began play in a local tournament, beating Mesabi East 4-1. On Saturday afternoon, the boys played a very skilled team from Stillwater that has been touted as one of the top teams in the state. After a hard fought contest they emerged with a 5-4 victory. On Sunday afternoon, they clinched the tournament title by a beating another very good team from Mound Westonka 2-0. They were awarded a very nice trophy for their championship win.
The following night the boys played against Duluth East, and despite feeling a bit sluggish from their long week of play, emerged with a 5-0 win.
Last weekend the boys played another tourney and lost the chmpionship game 3-2 in overtime. They are now 20-3 on the season.
