A course designed to prepare students for the FAA Private Pilot written test, a requirement for a private pilot license, will be offered this winter by Community Education.
The course will cover the following aviation topics over 10 weeks: Principles of flight, charts, navigation, aircraft systems, environmental factors, aviation operations, aircraft structure and capability, radio communication, meteorology, air traffic control procedures and FAA regulations.
The FAA test can be taken in Duluth once this course is completed.
The courses will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29, Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26 and March 5 and 12. There is a $100 class fee, and students will need to purchase an ASA’s Private Pilot Kit which costs about $125 at www.asa2fly.com/Private- Pilot-Kit—Part-61–P530_ product1. aspx.
