Due to the frigid temperatures and dangerous wind chills, the Run/Walk portion of the memorial Gunnar Anderson Freezin for a Reason 5K was canceled. The race was scheduled Sunday, Dec. 31, on the anniversary of Gunnar’s passing away from a freak snowmobile accident.
That didn’t stop a celebration of Gunnar’s life from occurring, however.
Instead of a race, those that had signed up were encouraged to come to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church to share a meal and refreshments and memories of Gunnar with friends and family.
All of the money raised will go directly to the Gunnar Anderson Memorial Fund, which is donated back to the youth of our community who want to “be the change” in the lives of others through compassion, good deeds, and selfless acts.
